Redmine Arch Decisions 0.0.9 released

Just a quick note to let you know that version 0.0.9 of the Redmine Arch Decisions plugin has just been released. There is no new functionality in this release. Instead, I have taken the time to work on the recently-promised compatibility with Redmine 0.9.x (more specifically, I worked on “trunk”, which is currently 0.9.2). It was hell to get all the tests working (one of those cases when they are more of a pain in the butt than a help), and there were some other changes that had to be made, so I’ve given up on the idea of trying to maintain backwards compatibility. Instead, I have created a separate branch for the 0.8.4 version of Redmine (which I may or may not try to maintain).

More information about the plugin and this release can be found below:

We’re a small consulting shop, who use (and love) Redmine and are investigating ways to track decisions, so naturally, I was delighted to read about your plugin. You have really thought this out well – bravo.

Just a note to ask if you have any plans to release a Redmine 1.0 supported version?

Thanks for the good words! As I’ve been using the tool myself, I’ve come to realize that it’s helpful for more than just technical decisions – it’s especially interesting for feature and requirement decisions. Unfortunately, there’s no support right now for indicating what kind of decision it is.

I’ve been pretty busy with other tasks and tools lately, but I always welcome suggestions for new features or improvements (I have my own backlog of things I’d like to implement). As for 1.0 compatibility, it’s definitely a priority, so if you find any incompatibilities, please let me know and I’ll get on it right away. However, we have recently upgraded some of our Redmine installations to 1.0, and have so far had no problems whatsoever. Give it a try!

Is the RAD plugin still supported?
    Best wishes,

I haven’t released any new versions in a long time. If you find a bug, I’ll try to find some time to fix it. I’ll be having more free time in the near future, so I might work on some minor enhancements. Is there anything you’d like to see here?

      • Aleksey Dubov says:

Good to hear that the project is alive. We have been using the RAD plugin for more than a year now and we have a lot of good decisions made with help of the RAD plugin. Thank you!

Since we moved to Redmine v.1.1.1 we have the following problems:
        1. “Attach file” doesn’t work in comments for factors.
        2. When a comment is submitted to any factor an error pops up. New comment is visible only after refresh of the page in a browser, but it’s annoying.
        3. Email notifications are empty without any details about factors or comments.

        Possible enhancements and fixes:
        1. For now, it is impossible to open a factor in a new tab in a web browser.
        2. If it is posiible, it will be more powerful to add ‘+’ and ‘-‘ buttons for each factor. ‘+’ means plus one point to the factor’s rate. Each person can vote only once. Then all factors are ordered by this rates.
